Shun Knives are some of the finest on the market right now. Have you tried any other Brands? Mac is a really good option, Also Chinese high quality chef knives are good deal now. Many off brands (But Highest Quality) will be coming to market soon @ Betterkitchenutensils.com Look for the Qiang Brand as a good less expensive alternative.

First, do not buy from independent producers, a game. They are more of a knife that you never use, or is a duplicate of another in the same unit. For example. Drag and drop the fruit and knife peelingor whole.
Or most people use knives and short head Santokus is exactly the same way, professional knives, which are completely useless, except for cutting in two sandwiches, etc. ..

As for the Sun label, so it is good, but at that price there are better Japanese knives - Aritsugu, Masamoto, Tadatsune, Hattori KF, Tanrenjo Mizuno, and even if you do not mind carbon Takeda could get to Watanabe.

View Blade Knife Shun knife, knife, including the boss is closer to the German market leader is that the lots for the stomach, it is not popular among the people with a knife and then not typical for Japanese Chef's Knife - Gyuto.

The steel in the classic line is used Shun VG-10 steel, is the same with many other Japanese manufacturers, and refused to use my experience and others prefer FWE above.
In addition, T isSteel here now are better.

BlueAnge ... is correct. Always try, or at least in his hand the knife which you want to buy. These knives are expensive to store and no confidence will be allowed to handle the knife before buying it. I have a Henckels and Wusthof at home. Knives very well, but they are not cheap. Shun knife is an excellent Japanese. Try to find and use the first on the purchase of a game. Wusthof would be a perfect second choice if you Shun. Good luck, hope this helps.

Have you tried first? Always take a supply of good food and you can try to make a knife before you buy, you feel sure that good (you will get on the changes that they will be surprised if you) in his hand. If you know you want a certain kind, and tried, then I say get what you can afford. But I always try first.
